Help American Humane Celebrate Their 130th Anniversary!

Sponsored by: Care2
On Oct. 9, American Humane celebrated an amazing 130 years of working to protect children and animals.

In 1894, the link between animal abuse and violence toward people was first mentioned at American Humane's annual convention. In 1940, they opened an office in Hollywood to prevent cruelty to animals in film and television, after a horse tragically fell from a cliff during the production of the film Jesse James. And in 1955, they published detailed guidelines on child protection standards and practices.

These are just a few of the early milestones that American Humane celebrated, and they continue to do great work for children and animals alike.

To celebrate with them, sign this petition and tell them how you will help further their mission of protecting animals and children. Here are some ideas:
  • Volunteer at a local animal shelter or children's organization,
  • Donate to American Humane,
  • Take action in your city and state on animal and children's issues, and
  • Learn more about protecting children and animals at www.americanhumane.org.
deadline: 10-29-2008
goal: 10,000

To celebrate American Humane's 130th Anniversary, I will make an effort to help further their mission. Some ways I can help include:

  • Volunteering at a local animal shelter or children's organization,

  • This holiday season, giving the gift of a donation to American Humane in a loved one's name,

  • Taking action in my city and state on animal and children's issues, and

  • Registering on AmericanHumane.org to receive newsletters and more.

I always tell my friends not to buy a pet but to adopt a family member! The animals in my family are off spring of strays. I also promote spay/neuter programs!

After adopting my first dog from a local pound, my husband and I have vowed to adopt all our future pets. And I will most definitely start volunteering for the Humane Society. Thanks for the difference you've made for animal welfare.
