Help American Humane Celebrate Their 130th Anniversary!
Sponsored by: Care2On Oct. 9, American Humane celebrated an amazing 130 years of working to protect children and animals.
In 1894, the link between animal abuse and violence toward people was first mentioned at American Humane's annual convention. In 1940, they opened an office in Hollywood to prevent cruelty to animals in film and television, after a horse tragically fell from a cliff during the production of the film Jesse James. And in 1955, they published detailed guidelines on child protection standards and practices.
These are just a few of the early milestones that American Humane celebrated, and they continue to do great work for children and animals alike.
To celebrate with them, sign this petition and tell them how you will help further their mission of protecting animals and children. Here are some ideas:

I will continue to help raise funds for Lost Fantasy Stables and Animal Rescue (www.lostfantasystables.org) and Australian Cattle Dog Rescue. I will publish my book, "8 State Hurricane Kate: The Journey and Legacy of a Katrina Cattle Dog" to help raise rescue funds and to tell the story of Katrina animals that were left behind and the network that grew to help them. I will continue to stay networked and help with transports to get rescued animals to a safe place. I will give love to my own rescued animals and promote kindness in memory of Kate. www.8StateKate.net I will stay current on disaster response training to help animals in disasters.

I did a library display about the formation of the first humane association (AHS) which was formed after the publication of the book Black Beauty while I was an adoption coordinator at the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor. I volunteered and worked there from August 1992- July 1994 and did the first official Australian Cattle Dog Rescue of Michigan rescue in December 1990. I operated it until 2003. It is good to volunteer!

I just started to work with New Hope Cattle Dog Rescue as a foster home. I regularly donate blankets and bedding that I get from Salvation Army to animal shelters. I talk to people that I see have pets chained or running loose and try to make them understand how it is bad for the animal. I am building a website this year to focus on small farm values, democracy and how to stop factory farming. I shop at local farmstands seasonally and at Whole Foods for meat as they only provide it from humanly treated animals. I read, I research, I look at what a group does with it's money before I invest, donate or open my mouth... This is something anyone can do. Just takes a little bit of time out of your day and you will feel so much better about yourself. I you think you are only one person and can't make a difference, you are wrong....
