The EPA has recommended a veto for the Yazoo Pumps Project - a plan proposed by the Army Corps of Engineers to build the world's largest hydraulic pumping plant in the middle of Mississippi.
An EPA veto of this harmful plan would protect over 200,000 acres in an area containing some of the richest natural resources in the nation.
Take Action! Tell EPA Administrator Johnson that you support a veto of the Yazoo Pumps plan.Learn more here.

I've watched many wetlands in my state be slowly destroyed with development. Runoff is a major problem and wildlife is running out of room to live. We are loosing the buffer zone between our life and the wildlife. Please preserve the wetlands as they are.

Dear Administrator Johnson,
I strongly support your veto plans for the Yazoo Backwater Pumping Plant project in Mississippi.this project would destroy important wetlands that sustain fish, birds, and other wildlife.
Draining the wetlands would diminish floodplain fishery yields, reduce water quality, and increase flood damage.
Please follow through and make the proposed veto final.
Sincerely, Cynthia Sommer

by putting these pumps it will put many species in danger. most of these species need wetland enviorment to survive and like to live in the wetland habitat

The Corp of Engineers needs to leave these wetlands alone! If it is possible they have funds available then let them work on their mess that still exists in New Orleans.

There are alternatives, so why destroy 200,000 acres of land where animals/birds live...people need to be considerate of other species.

Protect the Mississippi Wetlands from being drained and damaged. Wetlands are vital part of our ecosystem. Many species of wildlife need wetlands to live.

Destruction of any ecologically significant wetland is counterproductive to protecting our threatened environment. I urge you to finalize the veto of the proposed Yazoo Backwater Pumping Plant project. Thank you. lyn/long beach
