Studies show that American children are falling behind children in other nations in their knowledge and understanding of science. But instead of improving the quality of science education, movements across the country are trying to substitute ideology for fact in our classrooms.
The freedom of religion and the quality of public education are being put to the test in schoolrooms across the country. Recently, the Kansas State School Board revised its statewide science standards to undermine the teaching of evolution. Their decision opens the door for curriculums based on "intelligent design" and creationism.
But the problem with this policy is that science is based on facts and testable predictions; religion is based on faith. And unfortunately, "intelligent design" is no more than religious creationism dressed up with a new name. A quality science education teaches children to weigh evidence, think critically, and apply the scientific method to test
theories. A study of "Intelligent design" does none of these things.
For the sake of our children and the competitiveness of our country, urge your state governor to defend the integrity of science education in our schools!
We signed the “Teach Science, Not "Intelligent Design"” petition!

Our country was founded on the principle of the separation of church and state. Public schools are not the place to push religious views on children; they are the place to present scientific facts to students to prepare them for life ahead.

Please keep church and state separate. The educationof our youth is what is sacred. We must advance the causes of freethinking citizens. That is how we have and always will advance as a nation.

What my own belifs are is not important in the education of our society. They have the right to be taught ALL. We as adults may choose when we feel the exposure is exceptable but not to educate because of what ones belifs are excludes them from being allowed to educate. The reason our society is nothing but lemmings is because we are bieng taught from a little book(no religous reference to be made) not from universal knowledge which would never fit neatly in any book. Teach them everything and let them make choices!!!!

This also applies to sexual education in schools. The current administration only supports abstinence only sexual education. This approach to sexual education is completely unrealistic. Students need the full facts on sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, and other issues pertaining to sexual activity. Abstinence only education is completely unrealistic. Help reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies, abortions, and sexually transmitted infections. Comprehensive sexual education in public schools!

Hello there, if i were to look at a sheep dog and say, "well this dog sure does look like a mop, hold on one second...(writes something on paper). This piece of paper written by my god says its mop. Therefore this is a mop!" Sorry to say but because of science and biology we know that it is a dog through observable evidence. I rest my case. So is the dog a dog or a mop?

My daughter is home schooling her children because of what's been going on in our school systems. Another good reason for her to do so if they teach "Intelligent Design". Who are these people that bring up all this "crap" and where do they come from? Send them elsewhere!

Intelligent design, creation science, what ever you want to call it, is bunk. We must stop the religious right's war on real science.
