I am at loss for words as to how ignorant and arrogant some people can be to think that global warming is not a real immediate concern. And for someone to be included on a list saying the opposite of what his beliefs are is a crime.

The National Academy of Sciences and thousands of scientists worldwide agree that the planet is warming and that human dependence on fossil fuels such as coal and oil is the primary cause. If we do not act quickly and boldly, we will face irreversible and potentially devastating climate change impacts. There is still time to rise to the challenge, but America needs strong leadership to do so. We need to: * Create 5 million green jobs, conserving 20% of our energy by 2015. * Freeze climate pollution levels now and cut at least 80% by 2050 and 25% by 2020. * No new coal plants that emit global warming pollution. Invest in renewable energy. Solving climate change will place the U.S. at the forefront of developing and deploying the clean energy technologies that will dominate the 21st century.

The water levels in the Great Lakes are at historic lows. The SouthWest is showing signs of increased desertification. The Great Plains states have a thin layer of topsoil over desert sands from thousands of years ago. During the Dust Bowl years, those snads blew again. They could do so once again. It is unethical to distort science for political reasons. It is unethical to say that a scientist hold a position that is contrary to the position that they hold.That is what the skeptics have done. We must have ethical science.We must have ethical government. We must have action.

Here on California's central coast, we face the prospect of hotter drier summers with increased risk of wildfires, later rains that damage crops, and reduced snowpack that accounts for most of the state's water supply. Not to mention the prospect of rising sea levels! We need a Marshall Plan for America, to remake our infrastructure and energy supply system. This is a crisis and an opportunity, to put Americans to work, rebuild a sense of purpose and community, and inspire creativity and innovation to address these issues.
