Show the Candidates the Many Faces of Climate Change

Target: U.S. Presidential Candidates
Sponsored by: 1Sky

The debate is over -- the National Academy of Sciences and thousands of scientists agree that the planet is warming. Now it's time to make the effects of global warming real for the presidential candidates.

Is global warming putting you and your community at risk for floods or hurricanes? Is it making water more scarce? Sign the petition, and let the presidential candidates know!

After a decade of stalling, we need real leadership on climate change:

  • Job creation in a clean energy economy.
  • A moratorium on building new coal-fired power plants.
  • The reduction of emissions levels in scale with what the science demands.

Tell the candidates what global warming means to your community and tell them to commit to be climate leaders in 2008 and beyond.

deadline: Ongoing...

Dear [Decision Maker]

The debate is over. The National Academy of Sciences and thousands of scientists worldwide agree that the planet is warming and that human dependence on fossil fuels such as coal and oil is the primary cause. If we do not act quickly and boldly, we will face irreversible and potentially devastating climate change impacts. There is still time to rise to the challenge, but America needs strong leadership to do so.

We need to:

* Create 5 million green jobs, conserving 20% of our energy by 2015.
* Freeze climate pollution levels now and cut at least 80% by 2050 and 25% by 2020.
* No new coal plants that emit global warming pollution. Invest in renewable energy.

My name is Jessica, I am a teen and I live in the Hawaiian Islands. Pretty much anywhere I go, I am by the beach. I love to go to the beach, and so does pretty much everyone around here! Including the turtles that lay their young on the soft sands. I am definatley noticing an increase of the tide, and within the next coming years i heard that all of our beaches will be underwater. If there is no sand for a beach, how will our honus(green see turtles) lay their young? Please do not let this happen. There is still time to rise to the challenge, but America needs strong leadership to do so. We need to: * Create 5 million green jobs, conserving 20% of our energy by 2015. * Freeze climate pollution levels now and cut at least 80% by 2050 and 25% by 2020. * No new coal plants that emit global warming pollution. Invest in renewable energy. Thank you, Jessica

Here Are Seven Reasons to Begin Impeachment Hearings Against Bush! How many laws does Bush have to break before he’s held to account? Failing to investigate Bush NOW means that he will never answer for his misdeeds. How do we deter abusive leaders in the future if Congress fails to investigate him? (1) ILLEGAL IRAQ WAR (2) ILLEGAL SPYING (3) GENEVA CONVENTION VIOLATIONS (4) ILLEGAL DETENTION (5) ILLEGAL RELEASE OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION (6) ILLEGAL FREEZING OF ACCOUNTS AND RESTRICTION TO FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY (7) ILLEGAL USE OF SIGNING STATEMENTS Link to --> http://www.impeachforpeace.org/evidence/ <-- to see the evidence. So what can you do, you’re just one person? (1) Make 25+ copies of this message and pass it around. (2) Call your Congressperson at 877-851-6437 (Congress’ switchboard) and demand that he/she support full hearings on the impeachment of Bush. Bush is not above the law; he’s a government worker(?) and should be held to account just like any other worker!
