Had Enough of Workers' Rights Violations? Demand Better From the Secretary of Labor!

Target: Elaine Chao, Secretary of Labor
Sponsored by: American Rights at Work
President Bush has appointed some real scoundrels over the years, but Elaine Chao has to be one of the worst.

Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao has done horrible damage to workers' rights by gutting safety regulations, promoting a big business agenda and undermining workers and their unions at every turn.

The policies she could try to push through as she leaves would take years to undo. But if she thinks no one is watching in her last months in office, she's wrong.

Let Elaine Chao know you're one of thousands of Americans holding her accountable!

deadline: Ongoing...
goal: 10,000

Dear Secretary Chao,

I'm outraged to learn about your record of gutting safety regulations, promoting a big business agenda, and undermining workers and their unions. It should be your duty to protect the interests of hardworking people like me, not those of corporate America, but that has clearly not been the top priority of the Department of Labor under your leadership.

As a person who cares about workers' rights and the misguided direction of our country, I will be paying attention to the policies and practices of the Department of Labor during the remainder of your time in office. In particular, I am deeply concerned about your demonstrated record of slashing safety and health regulations, ignoring the economic needs of the workforce, botching mine investigations, and advocating against workers' rights. These dangerous and misguided practices must stop.

[Your comment here]

It is time to restore the Department of Labor as an agency run on behalf of America's workers.

Please do what's right for hardworking men and women in our country.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

Secretary of Labor: Put yourself in Workers' place and do your homework-are your plans feasible with them being able to pay their bills or are they being taken advantage of? Happy workers=production-unless all you want is robots out there that is!....

If all the high people of power that, can make and change the world, why don't they do the work that others have done for years before they speak up ! And being a proud American I'd like to see wealthy people pay for things by salary their cost to equal what the low class, that means that gas at the pumps use ID's to regulate cost per gallon by salary's $3.20 vs $32.99 a gallon who would you think would be doing all the whinning then. Just look who they are?????????????

Ms. Kissman, you will find few people, if any, on this site who would wish your death over disagreement on any issue. Despite what you have convinced yourself of, Mr. Bush has directed the heads of federal agencies to ignore their mandates and follow his wishes; the BLM, the EPA, the FBI, etc. Those who love this country want it governed by the rule of law, with balanced power. As to Ms. Chao, she should step down. There's slavery in Florida where I live as serious as the miner's problems, which are no "food fight," as Ms. Chao claims. As far as I can tell...most of the information obtained and published on this site is pure rubbish. From global warming to the subprime crisis - it's all a bunch of garbage that can't even be in the category of science or human logic. My 9 year old is smarter about world issues than 99.99% of the petitions started on this site. You all can go live in the jungle and die which would definitely make this world a better place and a little cooler without all your hot air!!! I joined to view what crackpots are really like and I was completely shocked at how many of you all that there are. Goodbye!

You and yours should be forced to live like the rest of us out here in the real world. When was the last time you had to feed your children beans in order to pay their babysitter at the end of the month? You should be ashamed of yourself!
