Sharks Cut and Left to Die - Outlaw the Practice of Shark Finning Once and For All

In 2000, the U.S. government enacted the Shark Finning Prohibition Act, intending to stop shark finning. This Act made it illegal to have fins aboard a fishing vessel without the corresponding carcass.
However, fishermen can land fins in a specified ratio to the shark carcasses. A ratio system is not the best way to enforce a finning ban because some carcasses could still be discarded at sea. Also, it is difficult to prove the carcasses on board the vessel actually match the fins on board, which could allow for the landing of fins from prohibited shark species.
The Shark Conservation Act of 2008 would require that all vessels, not just fishing vessels, follow this law and remove the ratio of fins to carcass weight. In addition, the bill encourages international efforts to protect shark populations. Tell Congress to do now what they thought they did eight years ago - close the loophole in the Shark Finning Prohibition Act. Warning: Video contains graphic content.

Everyday it seems that someone does something that makes me ashamed to be part of the human race. After much thought, I have decided that it isn't the majority of the humans doing these unspeakable acts but the ones taken over by pure evil. How else can they practice abusing the earth and its precious life? This finning needs to stop now!

Once again, human greed and ignorance may lead to future disaster. Not only are they wasting most of the shark, but who knows what is becoming unbalanced in the waters with all of those sharks being needlessly killed.

The shark population is one of the precious creatures in our delicate balance of life. Without them, who knows what we might screw up! Please people, help save them! It's terrible what people are doing, just for money. And without them, what are people going to do? They won't be able to fish them anymore, and thousands of dollars will be lost. Its better to stop by choice then by force. At least let the shark population build itself back up. If there are to few of them, then they won't be able to.

Please close this loop hole in the law...shark finning must be completely outlawed!! How any person can treat another living creature in such a cruel and horrible way is beyond me!!

I am asking those of you in congress to do all that you can to stop the horrific practice of shark finning. Be sure to close that loophole, and recreate a bill that will prohibit and make it illegal for shark finning on any vessel, even a life raft! This is so inhumane, I cannot imagine the person that could cut off a sharks fins and leave it to die in the water helpless and unable to swim. It is too cruel to even imagine.
