Is God Green?

You don't have to follow a specific religion to believe that God is green. Do you believe it's our spiritual duty as God's shepherds on earth to protect and treat with respect the nonhuman AND human animals and our environment on earth? If you do, sign this petition.
Even people who overwhelmingly voted for President Bush for "moral" reasons oppose the President's stance with regard to the environment. For example, the National Association of Evangelical's VP for Governmental Affairs vehemently opposes the administration's efforts to gut environmental protection laws.
Christian, Jew, Buddist, Hindu, or just spiritual? Whatever your faith, if you think that God means for us to protect the environment, sign this petition. With enough comments, the media and world religious leaders will take note.

It is painfully clear to me that if the world was created by a Greater Spirit, why wouldn't we preserve what he has created. If he created every living being that inhabits this Earth, then why would we destroy it. We are meant to live in harmony and organized religion unfortunately does not stress this harmony enough... yes from human to human but what about the four leggeds and winged beings of this Earth, they too have the right to live and they were created for a reason that half the poplulation does not seem to comprehend. As my ancestors before fought to preserve, I wil continue thier work to fight and preserve Earth and all its inhabitants.

It would be nice to know that this petition has a specific destination in mind, one where it can hopefully make a difference. I prefer to think that it is universality we need to be mindful of, wherein we respect all things, living and non-living; a Conscientious Mindfulness that allows us to honor things which make our lives possible.
