Stop Taxing Women for Having Menstrual Periods!

According to reports, 45 out of 50 states in the USA consider tampons and sanitary napkins a luxury and as such are taxed. In fact, these items are taxed more often than candy!

Low-income women are hit the hardest by these taxes as it's estimated that it can cost up to $70.00 annually to purchase these products and, like toilet paper, they are not covered by food stamps. This can present unnecessary hardships for women for a bodily function that is dictated by nature and is involuntary!

Please tell the U.S. House of Representatives to put an end to the taxation of these necessary feminine hygiene products!

Dear Members of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee

We (the undersigned) are signing the attached petition in support of abolishing the taxation of feminine hygeine products.

Every year women spend approximately $70.00 on tampons and sanitary napkins. These products are not a luxury, they are a necessity. Low income women are hit the hardest, since they often depend on food stamps for needed items, and tampons/sanitary napkins are disallowable purchases.

It does not make sense for candy to be taxed less often than products women need due to biological functions that are beyond human control.

Please end the taxation of feminine hygiene products!

Sincerely,
