Stop HR 2603 before it wipes out Africa's wildlife!

Congress is considering HR 2603, which aims to exclude non-U.S. species from the most basic protections of the Endangered Species Act. This includes Africa’s most vulnerable species, like elephants and rhinos.

They're calling it the SAVES Act, but the only thing this bill protects is wildlife traffickers' profits.

The damage doesn't stop there. HR 2603 will make it harder to catch and punish wildlife criminals. It loosens the rules for interstate commerce of ivory and undermines the United States' leadership in protecting wildlife.

If we don't stop this bill now, elephants and other treasured species will lose critical protections, and poachers will be motivated to ramp up their operations. Take action now.

Send a message to Congress that we care about Africa's wildlife and we want HR 2603 stopped now!
Subject Line: Stop HR 2603 to Save Elephants

Dear Decisionmaker,

I have just learned that Congress is considering HR 2603, a bill that eliminates the most basic protections of the Endangered Species Act. HR 2603 will drastically undermine America’s leadership in protecting beloved species including elephants, lions, rhinos and more.

As a member of African Wildlife Foundation’s community of wildlife advocates, I am horrified to learn that Congress may toss aside the bipartisan-support that established the Ivory Rule limiting interstate commerce of wildlife products.

If this bill goes through it will restrict protections of the Endangered Species Act to species native to North America. It will also reduce our ability to catch and punish wildlife criminals. This is particularly troubling as it is well established that profits from wildlife trafficking feed terrorism and rebel conflict – costing human lives and causing destabilization.

The world wants to save elephants, rhinos and other species, but voting for this bill is tantamount to telling poachers to ramp up their operations. Please vote no!
