Save Butch the dog

This petition asks you to contact Andy Cooke, the Chief Constable at Merseyside Police to insist the case against Butch is dropped and his Destruction order removed. His now deceased owner had made arrangements for Butch to go the Senior Staffy Club rescue to be re-homed. Please save Butch and help to fulfil the wishes of his owner who clearly cared for him very much. Thank you.

Butch is a 9yr old Staffordshire Bull Terrier - he was seized by Merseyside Police after he was discovered locked in a flat with his deceased owner, Butch had been there without food or water for a number of days. He had eaten some of the remains of his deceased owner which is very distressing and sad, but a very natural thing for a dog to do in order to survive.

Prior to this sad event his owner had asked The Senior Staffy Club to take Butch into their care, which they had agreed to do and were in the process of doing when this upsetting event occurred. They were prevented from taking Butch into their care by the Police.

Butch has since been given a Destruction order based on the tragic incidence of his loving owners death, and a police video where he is aggressively man-handled by an officer. This video shows Butch being held down on the concrete floor by his throat and then being picked up, (Butch does react to this handling in a way that appears is an attempt to get away from a situation that is very likely to be perceived by him as threatening behaviour towards him.) SSC therefore engaged a leading international dog behaviourist, who undertook an independent behavioural assessment of Butch, and produced a video of that assessment. Here is the video he produced of his independent assessment of Butch.

Statements collected from his vet and neighbours who knew him have attested that he is a friendly dog with a nice temperament. Butch is clearly not a dangerous dog.

Please help Butch today!

There is also an appeal page where you can donate towards the Court costs that Senior Staffy Club have to pay to fight for Butch.
