Ban greyhound racing - end the needless suffering!

Greyhounds are quiet, gentle dogs who love nothing more than a nice long sleep. They are also very loyal, and make excellent pets. However, in Australia, they are still being exploited, abused and slaughtered to meet the demands of the racing industry. Please sign this petition asking that the New South Wales parliament support a ban on greyhound racing.

New South Wales's Premier Mike Baird has responded to widespread cruelty and mass slaughter in the greyhound racing industry by announcing plans to ban the sport. Greyhound racing is only legal in eight countries, and it results in untold suffering and thousands of deaths every year. But Baird is facing resistance from other MPs.

Concerns about job losses are legitimate and need to be addressed, but the solution is not to continue to profit from the misery of innocent animals. It is the responsibilty of MPs to help their communities establish new economic opportunities.

Please sign this petition and tell NSW parliament that it's time to ban this cruel sport. If enough people sign, it will show that there's no place for exploitative animal entertainment like greyhound racing in the modern world.

New South Wales Members of Parliament

I am writing today to urge you to support a ban on greyhound racing.

Greyhound are gentle, intelligent and loyal animals that deserve loving homes and happy lives. Racing demands a great deal of suffering and isolation, and results in many needless killings each year when dogs can no longer race.

Greyhound racing is only legal in eight countries in the world. It has no place in a compassionate modern society.
