Make it a legal requirement to stop and report it if you run over a cat!

WELL DONE EVERYONE, WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF SUCCESS WITH THIS PETITION, AND OUR OTHERS ON HERE - THANK YOU ALL FOR SIGNING & SHARING!

Cats are not 'just pets', they are much loved family members who are valued and cherished companions.

In the UK you are required by law to report it to the police if you run over a dog. However, a cat does not fall within the remit of the Road Traffic Act and therefore you do not need to report the incident.

If government made it law to report a cat it would give them the best chance at survival rather than suffering by the roadside and it would give the family peace of mind/closure. To add to this, councils should bring in the compulsory scanning of microchips of cats found by the roadside.

Current laws reflect how undervalued cats are seen with the casual attitude we have to their welfare. The UK should set an example to others and future generations that it should be a moral imperative to respect other life forms and not leave them inhumanly in excruciating pain by the roadside.

Let's get to work guys and be the voice the cats do not have!

Amazing news! After being invited to the houses of parliament, an MP has agreed to go into battle with us to fight to get cats added to the RTA plus make it law that councils compulsory scan for microchips. This is the breakthrough we've needed! There is soon to be a press release so to keep fully up to date with proceedings please add me www.facebook.com/linzi.maria.9

Hi, just to let everyone know the Department for Transport have agreed to accept our petition so this is the last push for signs/shares before it's sent in the new year. I will also send it to every council in Britain urging them to scan & report all casualties on our roads.
Please add me on FB.

Thanks to everyone who have signed the petition so far.
I am aiming to send this off to the relevant MP once we hit 100'000. I am hoping to get it off in the very near future - the sooner we challenge this, the nearer we are to change & saving lives.
This is just a quick email to ask if anyone can re-share the petition, I know a lot of you already have of course.
Thank you all so much for caring
Mandy
