Save Beddau Rugby Club, Wales

Beddau Rugby Clubhouse and its activities is one of the only facilities that enhances community spirit, promotes child sport involvement in our national sport and family involvement, it has raised over £100 thousand pounds in recent years for local families in need, and local and national charities, and is one of the only community facilities in the area. Beddau RFC has produced national and international rugby players and is a valued and wanted part of the local community.

And yet, the local council are challenging our club status.
This is because (like the majority of rugby and other clubs around the South Wales valleys) membership cards are not insisted upon when purchases are made at the bar, this includes visiting guests/teams and private functions! I for one have never been asked for a membership card in any of the rugby clubs I have visited in 47.5 years! Coincidentally (call me a cynic) the rates for clubs is also lower I understand.

So why is Beddau RFC being treated differently? I cannot answer that, maybe RCT can? But I can ask you to help stop this from happening.

Beddau has no other community sports facilities, no other family friendly meeting places, and there is no larger group in terms of members of the community that use the club, and whose children live to play for the teams. It is an essential part of the village, which is already lacking in things to enhance community spirit, and engage local children in healthy activities.
