Demand NO nuclear waste dump in South Australia!!

The Nuclear Royal Commission's "tentative findings" promote South Australia as the World's high level radioactive waste dumping ground.

Promises of untold wealth might fool some into supporting a global nuclear waste dump in South Australia, but the mirage in the desert quickly evaporates when confronted with reality. There's an old saying: "If something is too good to be true, then it most certainly is". If this is such a good deal for our State, you have to ask why no other country has leapt at the opportunity to take the world's radioactive waste?

Radioactive waste is not only dangerous for hundreds of thousands of years, but its storage can never be 100% full proof.

Last year in the US, a barrel of nuclear waste stored underground at an intermediate waste site in New Mexico ruptured, exposing 22 workers to radiation and costing an estimated $500 million to remediate.

Exposure to radiation can cause serious health problems - including cancer, cardiovascular disease, emphysema and cataracts - and if it enters the soil can contaminate our food and water.

Under the South Australian Nuclear Waste Storage Facility (Prohibition) Act 2000, it is illegal to construct or operate a nuclear waste dump in SA.

It MUST stay that way.

Add you voice and sign the petition to call on the South Australian Government to enforce our laws and stop nuclear waste dumps in SA.

Dumping the World's nuclear waste in South Australia is UNACCEPTABLE!!!
