Save the South of Italy from DROUGHT! Demand better controls and investment!

In 2016, water has been irregularly supplied to the 9.4% of the Italian families, that means that many villages and cities do not receive enough or any, water at home through all the year.
That rate is even scandalously higher in southern regions: in Calabria is 37.5% and in Sicily is 29.3%.

Global warming worsens this issue, but is not the main reason. Surprisingly, Italy is one of the countries in the European Union with the most water available.

The Italian National Statistical Institute (ISTAT) shows how the 35.1% of the water dispensed in Italy is lost due to the corrosion, deterioration and breakage of pipes or defective joints.

Every year, considering only the 116 major cities, the amount of the lost water is equal to the one necessary to supply 10 million people!

It’s surprisingly that in Italy, one of the G7 countries, drought is still a problem. THIS ISSUE AFFECTS ITALIANS’ EVERYDAY LIFE AND ECONOMY!

Ask to the Italian Government and the Government of each Italian region to:

INCREASE THE CONTROLS
-
INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURES
-
INSTALL DESALINATION PLANTS WHERE IS NECESSARY
