Demand Wal-Mart To Stop Abusing & Selling Sick Fish!

If you have ever shopped at Wal-Mart, you have probably noticed the deplorable conditions of the live fish they sell. Most of the fish seem to be sick. The tanks are often filthy and overcrowded. Often times there are multiple dead fish in the tanks. These fish are severely neglected. The employees either aren't educated properly on caring for these fish, or the management just doesn't care.

The betta fish are often located in aisle areas close to the main tanks. I have seen betta fish with brown, toxic water. Some shoved clear to the back of the rack, only to be forgotten. Some are on the brink of death, or already dead. It's total abuse.

I don't think Wal-Mart should have the right to sell any live animal without somebody taking proper care of the animals. We shouldn't have to worry about seeing dead fish when we walk by the tanks. These fish are suffering and it doesn't have to happen! We shouldn't have to explain to our children that the fish are dead because no one cared for them. Wal-Mart, please stop neglecting, abusing, killing and selling sick fish.

We the people of Care2 ask that you stop selling live fish at your stores. Too many fish have suffered and died because of employee negligance/understaffing. Fish are living beings that deserve happy lives, but we see many fish in your stores that won't live to see that. Many of the betta fish are in filthy containers, some shoved to the back of the shelves. What kind of life is that for any being?

You are a huge corporation, there is no excuse that your stores are letting this happen. Instead of worrying about profit, worry about the neglected fish you are selling. If you planned on having fish, you should have planned on caring for them properly until they're adopted out.
