Teenagers watch man drown and do nothing but laugh

A recent video that has gone viral on Facebook shows a disabled man drowning in a Florida lake. The people taking the video - five kids between the ages of 14 and 18 - never tried to help him. Instead they can be heard in the background laughing and making fun of the man. He died while they filmed, and his body was found five days later.

In Florida, these kids cannot be prosecuted for failing to help him or call 911.

There is currently no law in Florida that makes it illegal to stand by and not help someone in distress, but there certainly should be. The kids had phones on which they recorded the man drowning. All they had to do was hit 911 and report it.

Please sign this petition to demand that Florida pass a law requiring people to intervene or call 911 when someone is in a life threatening situation.
