Urge Congress to oppose President Trump's proposed cuts to foreign aid

No matter how you cut it, poverty is sexist. In education, in access to health care, in economic opportunity, in legal rights, girls and women living in extreme poverty simply have it harder. We can't break this cycle of inequality if we turn our backs on girls and women living in extreme poverty, but President Trump is proposing dangerous cuts to foreign aid and we’ve got to get Congress to stop these cuts.

Half a billion women still cannot read; 130 million girls are denied an education; 155 countries still have laws that discriminate against women. Girls account for 75 percent of all new HIV infections among adolescents in Africa; 40 percent of women on the continent suffer from anemia, which causes 20 percent of maternal deaths.

The president's proposed cuts to foreign aid — nearly ⅓ — would be disastrous for those living in extreme poverty. Millions suffering from famine would be denied life-saving food aid. Girls wouldn't be able to go to school. Kids wouldn't be able to receive vaccines.

Congress can stop these cuts — but only if we speak out. Tell Congress right now that we can't approve these disastrous cuts to foreign aid.
Dear Congress,

Please oppose President Trump's proposed cuts - nearly ⅓ - to life-saving programs in the International Affairs Budget.

Sincerely,
