Ban Cruel Angora Rabbit Products from the US

Angora rabbits have beautiful, long, soft fur that is often used for sweaters and other accessories. A PETA investigation of "humane" Chinese Angora wool farms has revealed extreme abuse and animal cruelty.

On these Chinese farms, rabbits literally had their fur ripped out by the fistful while the animals screamed in distress. Authorities noted that the rabbits often lived in horrendous conditions. Rabbits on one farm were observed being pinned under workers' feet while being violently sheered. Another facility used ropes to suspend rabbits by their forelimbs while plucking and shearing them.

All the farms had rabbits who were in terrible condition with infected sores, injuries, cuts and abrasions. Some of the rabbits also showed signs of heat stress and respiratory disease. Due to mishandling and abuse, many of the rabbits were slowly dying of dehydration and starvation.

While some retailers like Forever 21, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Zappos have stopped using Chinese Angora wool, others continue to sell these products because it is not banned in the US. The Fish and Wildlife Service has the ultimate authority to prohibit these cruel products from entering the US.

Sign this petition to urge the US Fish and Wildlife Service to stop the import of Chinese Angora products into the US. By signing you will send a clear message that we do not condone this type of abusive treatment and handling of these sweet, defenseless beings.

Dear decision-maker,

I urge you to ensure that products from Angora rabbit wool farms across China are totally banned and barred from entering the United States. These farms have gone under extensive investigation with findings of extensive cruelty and animal abuse.

As we continue to allow trade of Chinese Angora products, we are promoting the continual abuse of these animals.  Stopping the import of these products will not stop the abuse entirely until we address these farms individually but since we are a huge market for these products, it would most definitely have an impact on the Angora wool industry. It will send a clear message that we will not stand by while these sweet, sensitive animals are abused.

Please help these animals and ensure that we are not allowing any more of these products into our country.

Sincerely,
