BLM: Maintain the Moratorium on New Coal Leases on Public Lands

The Bureau of Land Management is conducting public meetings on the three-year moratorium on new coal leases on public land that President Obama announced in January. The coal industry is pushing hard to end the moratorium, and the BLM needs to hear from us if the agency is to hold fast in its commitment to safeguard natural treasures in the USA from destructive coal mining.

Keeping the moratorium on new coal leases on public land in place will slow down destructive mining. It will also help transition the economy away from fossil fuels and mitigate the destructive effects of climate change.

While the pushback from Big Coal and its allies has been loud, caring people like you and I can be even louder in our call to protect our wildlife and environment. Sign today to show your support for the moratorium on new coal leases on public lands. By signing today you are showing that that are many more people interested in new, clean energy sources than reliance on destructive and outmodes energy sources.

To Neil Kornze,

As a person who is concerned with climate change I urge you to maintain the moratorium on new coal leases on public land for the next three years.

This moratorium is an important step to transitioning the American economy away from fossil fuels and showing that the United States can become a leader in the fight against climate change.
