Saving Dunwoody's 5 Acres of Woods & Wildlife From the Church Parking Lot Expansion

We disagree with the decision by First Baptist Church of Atlanta to raze five acres of developed forest along the back boundary of the church's property to put in 625 additional parking spaces.  We ask First Baptist Church to be good stewards of God's resources and stop the potential destruction of the forest and wildlife.  Currently this is home to a family of deer, fox, birds, and many of God's other creatures living in the little green space remaining in the Dunwoody area.  The picture of the deer to the left was taken recently on the property that is to be destroyed.

We are encouraging First Baptist to consider options that would save the church a great deal of money, save the greenspace, and preserve a neighborhood's way of life.  If there is a need for additional parking, we suggest that the church consider a more environmentally friendly way to accommodate their congregation's parking needs.  There are several surrounding school and hospital parking lots that could be utilized in their already existing shuttle bus system.  It is also worth mentioning that their existing parking lot is very rarely 100% full on Sunday.
