FOCUS On Poverty 2008 (USA)

This Petition calls for every man, woman and child in the United States of America to have access to adequate food, clothing, housing and healthcare.

50 million people in the United States live below the poverty line. Many of them are working poor.

This means that they work one, two or three jobs, and can still not make ends meet, or help to make life better for their kids.

This is not their fault. They didn't creat the housing crisis, the credit crunch or the steep rise in gas prices.

We are trying to rebuild a country half a globe away, but we seem not have the will to rebuild our own. That needs to change. Now.

Too many people waste time studying the effects of poverty. This petition calls for the immediate alleviation of the symptoms.

We want everyone who reads this Petition to sign it. Then, we want them to get their friends to sign it. Then, we want them to get every one of the candidates standing for election to any public office n 2008 to support it.

In this way, you will help this acorn to become the oak that alleviates poverty in every county, in every town, in every hood, in every state in this country.

50 million of our friends and neighbors unable to live properly, through no fault of their own, is a stain on our conscience - both personal and national.

Make a difference today!

We the undersigned call for every man, woman and child in the United States of America to have adequate access to food, clothing, housing and healthcare.

By signing this Petition, we send a message to every office-holder and activist in the country that we want poverty to end in this country.

We keep it simple. We don't talk about how; we don't talk about causes; we don't get political. We just say: enough is enough.

We live in the richest country in the world. Our friends and our neighbors should not be wanting, through no fault of their own.

Let's put aside differences. Come together. Find a way - together - to end this national stain. Please.

Join us by signing our Petition. Then, get a friend to sign it. Then ask an activist, or a candidate for public office in 2008, to sign it.

In this way, our network will grow. And where there is a will, there is always a way.

Don't wait for someone else to show the way. We can be the leaders in our society. Each one of us - as citizen activists.

This is the better nature of humanity. It is the nature of SinceSlicedBread.com and Care2. Let's show America how it works!

Thank you.
