Vote YES in November for an Illinois Constitutional Convention

Please sign our petition that you will vote YES to convene an Illinois Constitutional Convention in 2008.

Once again the corruption, influence-peddling, and cronyism endemic in the State of Illinois is the focus of a federal investigation.  The most corrupt state in the United States is famed for its governors, of both parties, spending their final years in federal penitentiaries.  The powers that be, those who want to retain their stream of largesse, like things just the way they are.  Reform to them is a 4-letter word.  Reformers in Illinois are mocked and the subject of everything from public mockery to criminal prosecution by the power elite.

In November, 2008, Illinois residents have a chance to vote to convene a state Constitutional Convention.  The last occurred in 1970!  The power elite that benefits from their stranglehold on the State will spend tens of millions of dollars to prevent the people's voices from being heard.  They have a lot of work to do:  A November 6, 2007, poll by the Glengariff Group showed that 2/3 of Illinois residents believe that the state ignores its citizens.

Only by convening a state constitutional convention in 2010 can reform in this most corrupt state be enacted because the representatives to "Con Con" can only be citizens who do not hold public office. That's why those who benefit from the present corruption, influence-peddling, and cronyism fear it and that%u2019s why

we ask you to sign the petition.

We demand reform !  By signing this petition you are stating that we need reform, that you are tired of the corruption, influence-peddling, and cronyism in the State of Illinois.  Whether you support term limits, legislative pay increases occurring during the week before elections rather than during the weeks following elections, environmental safeguards, merit selection of judges, reform of the lawyer- and judge-enriching divorce code, banning of traveling circuses, prohibiting the Illinois Department of Natural Resources from granting funds to park districts for the devastation of the environment, animal welfare, stricter fuel economy standards, a 3/5th supermajority requirement for tax increases, greater support for public education, election recalls, binding statewide referenda, stricter penalties for engaging in dog fighting, strengthening tax cap laws, preventing the gerrymandering of legislative districts to benefit insiders, strict enforcement of mandatory retirement for judges, preventing the skirting of the federal Miranda decision requirements, holding tax-increase referendum only on November dates of congressional and presidential elections, reform of judicial retention voting, or a myriad of other reforms that will be discussed at the constitutional convention, please sign the petition supporting its convening.
