Sign Petition to Support Bill C-50 and Stop Animal Cruelty In Canada

We, the undersigned residents of Canada, draw the attention of the Senate to the following:

*THAT the overwhelming majority of Canadians are greatly concerned about issues of animal cruelty,

*THAT the animal protection provisions of the Canadian Criminal Code have not been substantially updated since 1892,

*THAT current legislation does not provide adequate penalties for animal abuse,

*THAT the proposed Act to Amend the Criminal Code of Code Canada with regards to Animal Cruelty would modernize the Criminal Code and provide law enforcement officials with better tools to investigate, prosecute and sentence animal abusers,

THEREFORE, YOUR PETITIONERS CALL UPON THE HOUSE OF COMMONS AND SENATE TO PRIORITIZE THE PASSAGE OF THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION IN ITS CURRENT FORM WHEN PARLIAMENT RESUMES AS IT IS IMPORTANT AND LONG OVERDUE.
