Vets Get Scanning Cats Too

This petition expands the scope of the Vets Get Scanning petition (http://www.vetsgetscanning.co.uk/) from dogs to other microchippable animals, particularly cats. (See http://www.actiononmissingcats.org.uk/ for other campaigns.) It was created in consultation with Vets Get Scanning. Most vets' clients assume that vets will scan any animal they are seeing for the first time for a microchip; this is sadly not true. While we recognise that vets not scanning is only one of many obstacles to microchips performing their reunification function, it is an important obstacle and one that is relatively easily overcome.

The aim of this petition is to persuade all veterinary practices to scan all microchippable animals %u2013 particularly cats %u2013 already on their books and to adopt as their practice policy BSAVA and RCVS good practice: routinely scanning every microchippable animal on its first visit.
