Be Part of the Solution Lindsey Graham

Target:
US Senator Lindsey Graham

WHEREAS SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM has represented Eight Hundred and Sixty Two Thousand Four Hundred and Forty-nine (862,449) South Carolinians who voted for President Barack Obama in the general election;

AND WHEREAS the Democratic Party possesses a majority in both houses of Congress;

AND FURTHER WHEREAS, on several, albeit, few occasions, Senator Graham has consulted with and has voted with members of the Democratic Party in the US Senate, though in our opinion he continues to oppose in error many of the proposals made by the Administration and Democratic Leadership in Congress

BE IT RESOLVED that we believe it is the responsibility of every US Senator to consider the best interests of the United States in all of his or her votes before any other consideration.  That in a time when our nation is confronted with the drastic consequences of careless decisions made during the administration of George W. Bush, the current overall Republican strategy of politics by obstruction alone is not a reasonable response to the limited time and resources now available to address the nation's challenges.

The dire circumstances of our nation%u2019s problems: economic (including the faltering banking system and industry, joblessness and the availability of affordable healthcare for all), energy issues, the failing education system and the need for a more transparent and accountable government must be addressed now.

Senator Graham should consider all the solutions to our nation%u2019s problems being developed by the President and the Democratic Party fully and fairly.  He should be part of the solution and not the problem. At the end of his term, in approximately five years, Senator Graham should be judged on the value of his decisions for the entire country and its future, not on his obeisance to a minority opinion.

This petition is not associated with any official component of the Democratic Party and is open to all concerned Democrats everywhere.

Senator Graham seems to be practicing statesmanship over partisanship. No wonder the Republicans are scared of him!

I don't agree with Senator Graham on many things and I applaud his willingness to dialogue. When we can act like adults, respect each others opinions, discuss them and arrive at new conclusions, we have creative solutions to the problems facing us. Acting as spoiled children who want our own way only polarizes our country.

A Senator should represent the best interests of all the people of his or her state, not merely the extreme right wing of his or her own party.
