Georgia Virtual School Students deserve a GCA High School option and fair funding

The application for a GCA High School was denied by the Georgia Charter School Commission on Friday, June 18, 2010. This was a great disappointment to many of the families who have children going in to 9th grade. It is important for both the Georgia Charter School Commission and the Georgia Department of Education to hear your voice about this decision. We would like for you to sign this petition to express your outrage in this decision.
Also,  contact your legislator to let them know that you are outraged that your students continue to receive less than equitable funding for their education. Go to www.votesmart.org to find your state representative and senator.

We the students and families of the Georgia Families for Public Virtual Education are very disappointed and outraged with the Georgia Charter School Commission's recent decision to deny the Georgia Cyber Academy's application for a high school for the 2010 - 2011 school year. Our students have enjoyed a quality education with a proven track record from GCA for the last three years and want to continue that success with a high school. We are also dismayed at the decision not only to deny our students their local funding amount, but their action resulted in a reduction of the already limited amount that GCA has been receiving. Our students deserve an equitable funding level so they can enjoy the same educational options that our brick and mortar counterparts enjoy.
Thank you in advance for your help to insure our students continue to have school choice in Georgia.
