Ban Poisoning of Dogs and Develop Safer Methods to Address Stray Dog Issues

Karachi, one of Pakistan's largest cities, is poisoning and killing dogs to resolve its stray dog population.

This is an inappropriate, inhumane method of resolving the situation, according to animal rights activists in the area. A spokesperson for the group states that "There are just too many dogs. But you don't just give the dogs poisoned food and kill them. We need a proper spay-and-neuter program."

"The general myth is that all stray dogs carry rabies. That's wrong. In my personal experience, I haven't met many dogs with rabies at all. The answer to the city's worsening canine problem isn't to kill them but fix them. That's why we need a city-wide spaying and neutering program, because it reduces population and reduces aggression. And you deal with rabies accordingly."

This petition seeks to stop the poisoning dogs in Karachi as a means of controlling the stray pet population. We want to work along with and support local animal activists to find other more humane methods and ask that you help by signing and sharing the petition to get good and immediate results.

Town Mayor of Karachi, Pakistan - Please stop poisoning dogs as a means of controlling the stray dog population! We urge you to work with the animal activists in your community and find other more humane methods of controlling this problem other than killing the dogs. It is indeed not the dog's fault! Engage in a possible city-wide spaying and neutering program, which will not only reduce the population but also aggression and remedy rabies issues. In engaging in a spay and neuter program, also immunize the animals for rabies. Stop killing the dogs!
