End Military Assistance to Countries that Use Child Soldiers

One of the most tragic consequences of war and violence are the young lives that get caught in the crossfire. In some war-torn regions children are even forced to become soldiers themselves and made to fight and kill.

The 2008 Child Soldiers Prevention Act banned US Military Assistance for governments who use child soldiers. But three years later out of the six countries the US State Department recognizes as using child soldiers, the US still sends military aid to five.

Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen have all received waivers to continue receiving US military aid. But as long as we don't keep our word and cut off military assistance, these countries have little incentive to stop recruiting children.

No child should ever have their innocence stolen that way. Tell President Obama to keep our promise to the children of the world--end military assistance to countries that use child soldiers.
