No Robocalls to Cell Phones!

It is currently not legal to robocall cell phones without permission. A coalition of debt collectors wants to create a loophole that will just get bigger and bigger over time.

They want the FCC to allow them to robocall cell phone "wrong numbers." These wrong numbers may have belonged to their customers in the past but now they've been reassigned to new people.

Rather than purge their contact lists responsibly and keep their customer records up-to-date, these companies want a pass so they can hound new owners of these numbers with relentless auto-dialed calls and texts. This uses up the minutes that YOU pay for! It doesn't seem to matter to them that they don't have your approval or that you're not a customer. Act Now!

Recently, people like you helped Consumers Union send 50,000 signatures asking the FCC to authorize the phone companies to block robocalls.

Tell the FCC: No robocalls to cellphones without our consent!
To the Federal Communications Commissioners:

No robocalls to cellphones without our consent!

Update #18 years ago
Great news -- your voice has been heard! The FCC has finally announced that it's time for phone companies to offer effective call-blocking options for consumers. It not only affirms phone companies' right to provide these tools -- it tells them to do so! We couldn't have achieved this without your help, so thanks again for signing the petition.
