Many seniors across America are facing a difficult time in the current recession. They struggle with unaffordable housing and health care, along with rising costs for utilities, prescriptions and basic living expenses.
Five million seniors live on less than $10,000 annually and 25 percent survive on social security alone.* The economic crisis has intensified demand for programs and services serving America's older citizens. But still many more are simply falling through the cracks.
Seniors in your state should not be forgotten during this rough economy! Add your name to the list of people who believe seniors should receive the help they need to lead better and more fulfilling lives - with independence, dignity and control.

My grandmother gets less than $1200 per month. How is she suppose to pay bills, taxes, home insurance, a credit card bill, and have ANY money left over? This needs to stop now - I am an advocate for my grandmother and people like her.

I am a social worker and have worked with older adults for over 30 years. I am seeing more and more seniors having to chose between paying rent, buying food and getting their medications. Just go to any local food bank and you will see more and more older adults standing in longer and longer lines. America has lost focus on values. Our seniors, especially those over 80 are truly suffering. Granted there are those who have plenty of money but I suspect that for every one who has an annual income over $200,000 you will find many who can barely keep a roof over their heads, eat and buy their medication!!

Senior citizens have to go through enough hardships as it is and they've worked hard all their lives. They really need better care. And eventually, everyone becomes a 'senior citizen'.

Seniors have given all their productive years, and deserve to be taken care of when they no longer can take care of themselves.

With an aging mother and in-laws and other loved ones who are retired and on fixed incomes, the financial plight of this nation's elderly is something that remains topmost in my mind. Our elderly citizens deserve better than they have gotten from this nation.

One day we will wear the honored badge of
Senior Citizen, let's support those that wear
the badge now.
No one should be left out in these economic
times when we have the power to make sure
no one is. Especially our Seniors.
Thank you.

It's a shame on this country that some seniors have to choose between medications and food. Some go without both, while Wall Street gives out record bonuses to the people who caused the recession. How does this make sense?

I am a senior, and I fully agaree with the facts. I am strugling also, and it is very diffcult. This is supposed to be the most rememberable days of our live, and it has been a very unforgetable time in my life when it comes to daily living. I am not happy about it, and neithir are the rest of us. We need to fight back, but how, is the qestion. Most of us are too old to take up arms and storm the D.C. capital building, but maybe that is what is would take to achieve what we really need and deserve.
