  • by: John Smith
  • recipient: SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SYLVIA MATHEWS BURWELL, SECRETARY OF THE DEPT. OF HEALTH OF THE COMMON WEALTH OF PUERTO RICO, GOVERNOR OF PUERTO RICO, THE HN/ ALEJANDRO GARCIA PADILLA, THE FEDERATION OF STATE MEDICAL BOARDS, OFFICE OF CONGRESSIONAL

For many years now Physicians, Nurses and other health professions individuals have been subjected to poor customer services, lack of personnel answering phones, correspondence and worst yet denial of services for which the agency charges fees to said customers. In many occasions a caller can spend days and even weeks before he or she is able to get someone to answer a phone and often finds that the a call finally gets through the person answering is not knowledgeable of services and transfers customers to another telephone extension which is not answered as well This vicious and horrendous cycle has been the experience of the majority of customers and has existed for years before the creation of the JLDM and ORCPS in 2007/2008 after the corruption scandal was uncovered by the federal authorities and demise of the previous medical board and some of its crone's. Currently there are Physicians whom have had their career affected severely by false reports of malpractice, patient abuse and other adverse information sent to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) by the JLDM which is without merit and or lacking due process. This pattern of abuse of power, and overall lack of services exibited by the JLDM and the Office of Registry of Health Professionals (ORCPS) which operates the administrative portion of the board represent a hardship for all healthcare providers depending on their licenses and permits. The lack of oversight by the Dept. of Health and the Governors office promote the growth of inappropriate and possible corruption environment once again. WE ASK THE SECRETARY OF HHS, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND AGENCIES APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THIS GOVERNMENT AGENCY TO STEP IN AND INVESTIGATE OUR COMPLAINTS. OUR PROFESSION HAS BEEN DAMAGED ABROAD BY THE ACTIONS OF THE PREVIOUS CORRUPTION SCANDAL OF THE PREVIOUS BOARD AND MANY STATES QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF OUR CAPABILITIES BECAUSE OF THIS. WE WANT CHANGE, WE WANT OVERSIGHT BY FEDERAL AUTHORITIES AND WE WANT THE FEDERATION OF STATE MEDICAL BOARDS TO REQUIRE THE JLDM TO FUNCTION WITH TRANSPARENCY AND TO THE LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM OF ALL THE REST OF THE STATES AND TERRITORIES.
