Drop charges for Carlos Davis & hold Clayton Co.Trans Dept.accountable for Child Endangerment

On August 19, it was brought to my husband I attention that kids are being asked to squat or sit on the floor due to overcrowded Clayton County School buses. Of course as a parent I wasn't at all thrilled about students being asked to sit on the floor. I told my daughter that if she ever has to sit on the floor, please let me know. On August 28, while at work, I received a text stating what I didn't want to hear. ["Mommy I had to sit on the floor."]

I called my husband Carlos Davis, to update him on the text I'd recieved from our daughter. I also asked him to speak with the bus driver as to "Why are kids sitting on the floor?"

From my understanding from witnessing parents that awaited their children at the bus stop. Once the bus arrived, Carlos asked the bus driver, "Ma'am why are kids sitting on the floor?" She(bus driver) replied," It's not my fault nor problem..you need to contact the transportation department." It may not be her problem but being that our kids are in the care of Clayton County School System until we(as parents) have possesion of them, she as the driver of Clayton County School System is VERY RESPONSIBLE for our children and their safety while under her(driver)care.

After going back and fourth amongst the two because the driver never gave an answer but smart remarks and attitude, Carlos stood there and stated,"I will wait til you give me an answer as to why the safety of these kids isn't your concern." So she decided to called Clayton County Authorities. Once they arrived, they arrested Carlos Davis for "Disrupting Public Schools" in front of all students and parents.

  •  Is it against the law to demand answers concerning the safety of our kids?
  • Are the ones we entrust our children to, not putting our kids safety FIRST?
  • Why is it, if we allow our children to sit on the floor of our car while driving,we will get arrested, get a citation, become labeled as a bad parents, labeled for child cruelty etc...but the driver of Clayton County Public School System and Transportation Department isn't being held accountable for putting our kids at risk of CHILD ENDANGERMENT?

Greetings,

This petition was created because due to the mishandling and neglect of students safety on behalf of Clayton county School Transportation Department, a concerned father was arrested because he confronted the school bus driver that compromised his child and other students safety, by telling them to sit on the floor due to bus overcrowding.

Once the driver was confronted about the issue, she denied it first until students said,"We did sit on the floor!" She then replied,"It's not her fault nor problem...take it up with the transportation department!" The wife of the father was doing just so at that moment, meanwhile he seeked answers from the very driver that allowed such carless behavior to take place. Other parents that wasn't aware of what had been taking place on the bus was now upset as well. The driver, while in an uncomfortable position having being forced to answer questions thought she'd call authorities to defused the situation instead of answering the parents concern and/or give a logical reasoning.

Although, the father in question waited at the bus until authorities arrived,(assuming someone will give him answers since the safety of students was at risk), instead he was arrested. He was charged with "Disrupting Public School Operations". Being a concerned parents is a crime now? It wasn't as if he was holding the bus hostage, preventing anyone from moving, or threatening anyone. All he wanted was answer as to why students are having to sit on the floor of a dirty, unsafe bus?

As of that day 8/28/2014, all of a sudden there has been changes made to ensure that students didn't have to sit on the floor. Why did a concerned father have to get arrested and media had to be notified to ensure change? If the father had to be held accountable for "Disrupting Public School", why is it that Clayton Clounty Transportation Department not being held accountable for compromising our childrens safety? Would we not get some form of punishment if we were stopped by police, and our child was sitting on the floor of our car? But are we as parents supposed to be okay with the fact that our children having to sit on a unsanitary unsafe floor of a school bus? Who are protecting our kids while in the care of the school system? Why aren't the school system living up to the Code of Ethics that they try to ensure us of "STUDENTS SAFETY IS FIRST PRIORITY"? Where is the justice?
