Demand that a cell phone tower not be installed on the roof of 555 Barrington Ave in Brentwood

First, Verizon’s cell phone service is fine in this area and a new antenna array is not necessary. There are no gaps in coverage that would necessitate a new facility.

Second, electro-magnetic microwave radiation, like the kind broadcast from cell phone antennas, is linked to many health problems, including cancers, childhood leukemia, DNA damage, and a host of other ailments. Govt. agencies agree that this type of radiation is possibily carcinogenic and state that further study is needed. We are not willing to risk our health or act as experimental lab rats.

Third, cell phone broadcast structures have shown to significantly lower property values in surrounding areas. We pay a high premium to live in a luxury building in the upscale neighborhood of Brentwood. A telecommunications facility on our roof will dramatically decrease the value of living here for us and our neighbors.

Fourth, cell phone antenna structures do not belong in, and are typically not placed in, the middle of densely populated residential areas. They have many drawbacks for residents which can easily be avoided by placing them on the outskirts of neighborhoods, while still delivering quality signal coverage.

We demand that a cell phone tower not be installed on the roof of 555 Barrington Ave in Brentwood.

Our Next Steps:

1. Show owners that residents will move out—by asking residents to contact Douglas Emmett and having them sign a petition threatening to leave if the tower is built.

2. Show owners that new tenants will not move in—by informing new potential residents of the tower (& its downsides) & letting management know that we will continue to warn them.

Plus, keep writing/calling our elected officials.

If you can help, contact us at cancerfreebrentwood@outlook.com or on Facebook.

Hello friends & neighbors!

Thanks for signing our petition & helping us defeat the cell tower. Please ask your neighbors to sign because every signature counts! I want to remind everyone that this Thursday, Oct. 9 at 9 am, the zoning hearing will be held at WLA Municipal Bldg, 1645 Corinth Ave, 2nd Floor. It's very close by & shouldn't take long. Please come & bring your friends. Even if you don't say anything, just being there helps & shows our solidarity. See you there!

Thanks & be well.
