Threatened trout species of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness and the Kootenai National Forest in Northwest Montana are under siege. The environmentally destructive Montanore Mine proposal seeks federal permits to consume natural water resources to such a degree that it will take more than 1,000 years for partial recovery to pre-mine levels. Waters in the protected Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, including Rock Creek, Rock Lake, and the east fork of the Bull River, spawning grounds for threatened bull trout, stand to be completely drained, their thriving ecosystems destroyed. The water that would not be consumed by operations at the proposed Montanore Mine would be polluted with life-threatening levels of toxins such as antimony, manganese, and acrylamide. Help preserve these irreplaceable public resources and dwindling aquatic species by telling EPA and the United States Forest Service to deny operating permits to Montanore Minerals Corp.'s destructive mine proposal.
