Wyoming – Create & Enforce Animal Cruelty Registry for the Protection of Animals

  • by: Sue Lee
  • recipient: Wyoming State Legislators

Animal cruelty is defined as an act of knowingly and intentionally causing injury, neglect and death to a defenseless creature. The state of Wyoming is taking some crucial steps to ensure that animal abusers be held accountable for their actions. It has been a proven fact that abusers of animals frequently turn to crimes against humans. Anyone who thinks it is acceptable to harm an animal that cannot defend itself will very likely harm people, often family members, neighbors and friends.  You can read more on animal cruelty concerns, issues and laws in Wyoming at http://asci.uvm.edu/equine/law/cruelty/wy_cruel.htm

In a continuing effort to protect animals, I am working to encourage states like Wyoming to implement and create an animal cruelty registry.  The proposed animal cruelty registry would require anyone guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect to be placed on this database, requiring that it be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers need to be banned from future pet ownership or ever working with or caring for them for a lifetime.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource.

The effort of this petition is to ask for such a proposed database that can be used as a tool in protecting animals statewide by targeting the Wyoming State Legislators, and hopefully, eventually such a proposal and database will go nationwide.  We can help my efforts by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts, ideas and comments.

Wyoming State Legislators – In your ongoing efforts to protect animals from abuse, cruelty and neglect, I strongly urge you to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry. Such a proposed database would require anyone guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect to be placed on this database, requiring that it be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers need to be banned from future pet ownership or ever working with or caring for them for a lifetime.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource. Anyone who abuses defenseless animals need to be held accountable.
