Tell Congress: Encourage the Use of Renewable Energy!

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Save Our Environment
Three years ago, Congress created a series of tax incentives to encourage the use of renewable energy technology and energy efficient building practices. Today, many of these incentives are set to expire at the end of the year, putting thousands of jobs and billions of investment dollars at risk.

Despite months of proposed legislation and debate, stall tactics and foot-dragging on the part of some Senators have prevented Congress from doing anything. The public needs to speak out today to tell Congress: Stop the delays and extend the renewable energy tax incentives!
deadline: Ongoing...
goal: 20,000

Dear Senator,

Since 2005, green industries have taken advantage of a series of federal tax incentives and credits to install renewable energy systems and produce more energy efficient products and technologies. States have used these incentives to meet their own greening requirements. Green technology has provided a bright spot in an otherwise struggling economy.

Now these tax incentives are coming to an end. Critical extensions are long overdue; it is up to you and your Senate colleagues to correct this problem. Every day that passes without an extension places thousands of green jobs at risk and slows down our transition to a clean energy economy. Renewable energy projects are already being put on hold, hiring has slowed down, and clean energy investment dollars are being directed outside our borders. If we do not extend these tax incentives, thousands of jobs and billions of investment dollars at risk.

Green industries mean green jobs -- millions of them! We must extend these incentives both to provide jobs (thus, improving the economy) and to combat climate change.

If you were drinking water, would you return to a well that was running dry. I think not, keep moving forward to support a new industry that perpetuates self-reliance and a revolutionary economy. Support the innovators...move away from the old onto the new.
