Save Yellowstone's Bison: Stop the Senseless Killing
Target:U.S. Department of the Interior Sponsored by:Care2.com
Yellowstone National Park is home to America's last free-roaming buffalo herd, a reminder of the great American West. Yet these buffalo are needlessly killed when they leave the borders of the park by state officials who fear the animals will spread brucellosis to cattle, even though there has never been a single case of a buffalo in the wild spreading the disease to cattle. More than 3,000 of these buffalo have been killed in the past 15 years.
Even worse, our government is spending taxpayer money to kill bison that migrate out of Yellowstone to the Horse Butte Peninsula - in the name of protecting cattle even though there are no longer any cattle grazing on the peninsula.
Local landowners and conservation groups are urging the federal government to stop killing bison immediately on the Horse Butte Peninsula and to undertake a new environmental impact study to update the current bison management plan. Please urge the Department of the Interior to stop the slaughter of Yellowstone's bison now!
We signed the “Save Yellowstone's Bison: Stop the Senseless Killing” petition!

As a vegan, I even go further than asking to stop killing until environmental studies have been concluded. All killings should be ended. Period. We have no right to plunder nature's gifts by murdering them, for whatever reason.

Gandhi stated, "The GREATNESS of a nation and its MORAL PROGRESS can be judged by the WAY its animals are TREATED."
This is a disgrace to be trapping and killing these bison under the guise of protecting cattle from brucellosis when there are no cattle on this land! This is very wasteful to the taxpayers and WRONG to take these animals from their environment.

Buffalo are an icon of the American West.Their near extiction at our hands was tragic.Their continued slaughter is needless, shamfull and unnecessary. It paints a horrible picture for the world and our children to see.First it was the railroads and the army, now we have been dictated to by corporate cattlemen. It is time to listen to the HEART and SOUL of the AMERICAN PEOPLE.LET THE BUFFALO BE.

Please protect the bison both in and out of the park. How about we quarantine our live stock from the Buffalo so brucellosis isn't a factor. They help keep Yellow Stone healthy and wolves help take care of the weak, sick and injured. Please protect bison.

I am writing to express my opposition to the trapping and killing of bison on Horse Butte Peninsula. This killing is senseless and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Cattle no longer graze on the peninsula the last remaining cattle grazing ranch was recently purchased, and the new owners have removed the remaining cattle and declared the land open to Yellowstone bison. Continuing to trap and kill bison under the guise of protecting cattle from brucellosis is wasteful and wrong.
I urge you to stop the killing of Yellowstone's bison on the Horse Butte Peninsula until an environmental impact study is completed to assess necessary changes to the Interagency Bison Management Plan now that there are no longer cattle grazing in this area and the local landowners support grazing bison on their land.
Sincerly, Ann Koch
