Demand Justice for Slain Syrian Teens

Hamzah Ali al-Khateeb was only thirteen when he was arrested by members of the Syrian regime. One month later, Syrian security returned his mutilated corpse to his parents.

On June 9th, activists found 15-year-old Thamer al-Sahri in a similar condition. Both boys' bodies show the marks of cable whippings, electrical shock devices, and bullets fired to injure, not kill. Thamer was missing an eye; Hamza had been castrated.

The boys' crime? Attending the same peaceful protest in the city of Jiza.

Torture in Syrian prisons is now "rampant," according to a report by Human Rights Watch. Tell President Bashar al-Assad that it's time to put a stop to the violence.
Dear President Bashar al-Assad,

I am writing to express my alarm regarding the continued arbitrary detainment and subsequent torture of prisoners in Syria. Such behavior, particularly the treatment of teenagers Hamza Ali al-Khateeb and Thamer al-Sahri, is reprehensible.

The human rights of the people of Syria must be respected. I urge you to end the violence against them.

Sincerely,
