Tell the EPA: I Support Limits on Carbon Pollution from Power Plants

Rising seas, acidifying oceans, melting ice caps, worsening droughts, floods, heat waves, and intensifying migrations and extinctions: according to the most recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, climate change is hitting home, right now.

Polluters are doing everything they can to protect their right to pollute. But parents — and grandparents, aunts, uncles, and sisters and brothers — have power too. Our voices count. The actions we take now to protect our air will be felt for generations to come.

In order to fight climate change we need to cut carbon and methane. Electricity plants running on coal produce more than a quarter of US carbon pollution. Right now, there are absolutely no limits on carbon pollution from those power plants.

We need to limit carbon pollution from power plants. This is more significant than Keystone. The coal industry is fighting these rules as hard as it can. It is up to us to defend them.

Tell the EPA you care about climate change and support limiting carbon pollution from power plants.
Dear [EPA Representative],

Subject: I support limits on carbon pollution from power plants

I am writing today because I care about climate change and support limiting carbon pollution from power plants.

Electricity plants running on coal produce more than a quarter of US carbon pollution. Right now, there are absolutely no limits on carbon pollution from those power plants. That's plain wrong.

Carbon is a potent greenhouse gas — and it is causing dangerous global warming. The only way to slow global warming is to cut down greenhouse gas emissions. And, in light of the most recent IPCC report, we need to start cutting those emissions now.

The decisions we make now about how to treat climate change will affect our children for the rest of their lives; that's why I'm in favor of new limits on carbon pollution from power plants.

Sincerely,
