Thanks to you and almost 70,000 other Change.org petitioners, the BUAV Cargo Cruelty campaign is having a major impact on the international trade in primates for research - a global industry that involves misery, suffering and death on a massive scale.
We are delighted to report that in recent months, a number of airlines have announced that they will stop transporting primates destined for experiments! Five key international carriers - Air Canada, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Continental Airlines and Vietnam Airlines - have joined the growing list of passenger airlines to stop their involvement in this cruel trade.
The news marks another success for the BUAV Cargo Cruelty campaign which has continued to go from strength to strength. There are now only a small number of passenger airlines that are involved in the cruel trade.
The BUAV has worked tirelessly to end the international airline transportation of primates for the research industry. Our hard-hitting investigations and research have uncovered cruelty and suffering inflicted on primates not only in laboratories, but also during trapping, farming and transport.
Thank you so much for being part of the BUAV Cargo Cruelty campaign. The net is closing on the monkey traders. But we must continue to show the handful of remaining airlines the strength of public opinion on this issue if we are to end the cruel trade once and for all.
