Plastic Microbeads are huge problem!!! They are destroyiing the oceans and are now found in fish and even humans! The plastic microbeads are not biodegradable. The State of Illinois has banned the use of microbeads in products and legislation is in the works to ban the use of microbeads in all products in the USA. The plastic microbeads are usually blue in color and are used primarily in toothpaste and as exfoliants in skin care products - like Proactiv cleanser. Proactiv could easily use a natural ingredient as an exfoliant but they are greedy and trying to make more money by using the cheaper plastic microbeads.
