President Obama: Reject Keystone XL before the Paris climate conference!

This is it: Our big chance for REAL global action on climate change!

On November 30, the 2015 U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP 21) will begin in Paris, and for once, there might be a real shot at a global climate agreement. President Obama will be there, Canada's new prime minister is bringing all the provincial premiers, and China just showed it means business with serious carbon reduction goals.

For any meaningful agreement to happen, polluters like the U.S. have to play a big role. Other countries will want proof the U.S. can back up its word, so President Obama needs all the climate credibility he can get. That's why it's time for him to reject Keystone XL once and for all.

Keystone XL would carry Canadian tar sands, one of the dirtiest fossil fuels on earth, across America's aquifers, farms, and wildlife habitat. NASA's top climate expert said this kind of tar sands expansion could mean "game over" for the climate, its mining is devastating for First Nation tribes, and its pipelines are more likely to spill.

Hillary Clinton, who as Secretary of State had the power to help reject this foreign pipeline, finally came out against it this fall. Then Canadian voters kicked their climate-denying Prime Minister out of office. Tell President Obama to grab hold of this momentum, build his climate credibility for COP 21, and reject the tar sands once and for all!

Mr. President,

To give the United States as much credibility as it can possibly get ahead of the COP 21 conference in Paris, please reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline once and for all!

The right move for the climate is clearly to take a stand against the Canadian tar sands - please reject Keystone XL once and for all before COP 21 begins!
