Give Wal-Mart's CEO a Reality Check!

Target: Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
Sponsored by: American Rights at Work
One after another, the scandals emerge revealing Wal-Mart's ruthless campaign against workers' rights.

When Wal-Mart employees attempt to stand up for themselves and try to form a union, they face threats, propaganda, discrimination, intimidation, and even firings.

Is this any way to treat employees who just want to negotiate for better wages, more affordable health care, and basic protections on the job?

It's a struggle of epic proportions: 1.3 million employees versus Wal-Mart. College students, single parents, the elderly—barely making enough to cross the poverty line, competing against the world's largest employer and corporation—raking in $10,000,000,000 in profits last year. Clearly, Wal-Mart can afford to do the right thing and treat its workers with the respect they deserve. The question is, will it?

It's time to demand Wal-Mart stop denying its employees a voice at work. Tell Wal-Mart enough is enough!
deadline: 12-8-2006
goal: 60,000

One after another the scandals emerge revealing Wal-Mart's ruthless campaign against workers' rights.

When Wal-Mart employees attempt to stand up for themselves and try to form a union, they face threats, propaganda, discrimination, intimidation, and even firings. It's wrong, and it's got to stop now.

We, the undersigned, demand that Wal-Mart:

  • Stop encouraging your employees to spy on suspected pro-union coworkers and get rid of your anti-union hotline.

  • Stop spending money on anti-union consultants on-or-off the books, including your "People Division," an on-call unionbusting army to respond to the 'threat' of unions in your stores.

  • Stop closing stores or departments where your employees have decided to form a union.

Sincerely,
[your name]

I USED TO WK @ WAL - MART FOR 5 -6 YRS. I WAS STARTED IN THE PAINT/HARDWARE DEPT. THEN I WAS SENT OUTSIDE FOR SOMETHING STUPID. NEXT, I ASK WHEN THERE WAS AN OPENING TO LET ME KNW, BUT MANAGEMENT NEVER DID. THE FUNNY THING WAS THAT I ASK WAY BEFORE AN CO-WKER DID & HE WAS ALSO OUTSIDE & HE WENT INSIDE BEFOR I DID. THAT WAS SO WRONG. SO WHAT I TOLD PEOPLE THAT WAS WKING THERE & GOING TO WK THERE WHAT I TOLD THEM WAS 'DON'T WK HERE, BUT IF U DO IT IS OK FOR IF U R GOING TO SCHOOL BUT OTHER THAN THAT DON'T WK THERE CAUSE THEY TREAT U LIKE CRAP. I AHVE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE COME & GO. FOR EX: WE HAD A ELECTRIC CART TO HELP W/THE CART & THERE WAS A LIMIT TO GO ON THE CARTS, & THERE WAS A BECON ON TOP OF IT & IF IT WLD BE BROKEN IT WLD TAKE THEM A WHILE IF U TOLD MANAGEMENT TO FIX IT LIKE A MONTH OR MORE.

i have not stepped foot in a wal-mart since i was old enough to drive myself and shop for myself. that company is disgraceful. i can't even fathom why they are still allowed to be open and operational in this country with the way they treat people, animals, and the environment.

Wal-Mart is brutal. They have to sucker in kids and lower educated people to work in their anti-union hell hole. Everytime I see a Wal-Mart employee they just look miserable. Give these people proper pay, benefits and compensation you crook!

I worked @ Walmart for about 7 months , I was even given a promotion on my 30th day. However like typical big business the management doesn't care about the employees they only care about the bottom dollar line. I met ppl that worked for them when Sam Walton was alive and they told me that a few weeks after he passed , everything changed for the worse. If you could help us please visit www.geocities.com/nomoremot to try and put a stop to the big business practice of making employees work involuntary overtime.

Sam's probably rolling over in his grave! Employees at Walmart are upbeat even though I know for a fact they are taken advantage of. And what every happened to Sam's promise to find products made in the USA? We sure never see the banners anymore about jobs created by finding producers locally anymore! Disgusting and a betrayal to the American Way.

As a former employee of Wal-Mart, I know first hand how they treat their workers. I was fired after two years for refusing to do a job that was not my own, a job that paid much more than what I was seeing. Wal-Mart is ruthless, and they do not think twice about the welfare of their employees. Wal-Mart must be stopped!

How can you give someone a reality check, when they have absolutely no idea what reality is?? CEO's don't care about anyone or anything, but money. What a surprise!
