Like all Americans, residents of the District of Columbia pay federal income taxes and serve their country in times of war. Yet for more than 200 years, District residents have been denied voting representation in the U.S. Congress, the very body that controls every aspect of the city's judicial, executive and legislative functions.
District residents were on the brink of success with the D.C. House Voting Rights Act of 2009 - until the National Rifle Association threatened to add an amendment to the bill that would repeal the District's gun laws. This harmful and unnecessary amendment threatens to stall the voting representation District residents deserve.
Take a stand for the rights of all Americans to have representation in Congress! Urge your Congressperson to reject all harmful amendments to the D.C. Voting Rights Act - and give District residents the representation they deserve!
Dear Congressperson,
I am writing to urge you to reject any harmful amendments to the DC House Voting Rights Act (H.R.157).
The more than half a million Americans living in our nation's capital pay billions in taxes, fight and die in wars and serve on juries but are denied a vote in Congress. This legislation is too important to be diluted by harmful amendments.

Please vote NO on any harmful amendments to the DC Voting Rights Act.
Sincerely,
