| 2,838 | 6:32 am PDT, May 2 | Marilyn Harman | North Carolina | As I enter Wilmington from Brunswick County, I am awe-struck by the beauty of the various steeples that grace the skyline. The tranquility of the river draws me into historic downtown, where the ambiance of old Wilmington lives on. I can not imagine gazing across the river and viewing a smoldering, stinking, offensive mound of rubble, over-shadowing the Battleship, as it's cloud of fumes wafts over Brunswick County. New malls, new businesses, new housing developments...it just doesn't seem to end. Lost forests, pastures, wildlife. Both sides of the river are under attack. Is our quality of life really for sale? |
| 2,837 | 10:07 am PDT, Apr 15 | Anonymous | North Carolina | What person would want to live in the Cape Fear region? Who would want to go to school there? It will hinder growth of the area, especially Leland. It will downgrade the area and will surely short tourist money from locals. |
| 2,836 | 9:03 am PDT, Apr 4 | William J. Muench IV | North Carolina | The landfill will kill property values. |

| 2,832 | 7:39 pm PDT, Mar 30 | Judd Arnold | North Carolina | Beautiful beaches, the historic downtown waterfront, an exploding real estate market, strong economic growth, an artificial mountain of trash visible from miles away... Wilmington is a wonderful place to live and visit. Why do some of our elected leaders want to ruin it? |

| 2,829 | 11:41 am PDT, Mar 26 | Goldy Ann Rose | North Carolina | This landfill is going to depreciate the value of everyone's homes in and around leland. The waste will pollute the ground water and cause health problems to those who consume it. |

Here in Ga where I live, the tyrants we have elected intend to dump flyash along with contaminated soils and auto fluff in ours. Lawsuits will most likely be forthcoming. Stop them before they start and best of luck. |

| 2,816 | 8:08 pm PST, Mar 3 | Jeanne Johnson | North Carolina | I moved to North Carolina from New York because I wanted to live in a clean, safe area. I just moved here and love the beautiful land, water and trees. There is more than enough reason for people and businesses to move to this area. Most recently Verison Wireless, GE Nuclear and Time Warner have come to NC. In addition, PPD, the Marriott and a new Convention Center are planned for the area. Hugo Neu Landfill will not be good for the area, in fact, in will be bad. I know myself and others in my area are all planning on moving from the area if, in fact, this gets approved. Then the Mayor of Navassa can be happy. He and his residents will have their beloved landfill and a lot of empty homes and businesses all around them. |
| 2,815 | 8:01 pm PST, Mar 3 | Anonymous | Virginia | Our soil, water and air are vital to life. Pollutants are detrimental to the environment and lives. Landfills pollute our water, air and soil. We don't need them. |
| 2,814 | 6:52 am PST, Feb 28 | Thea Nunez | North Carolina | As a citizen of North Carolina, I reject this landfill wholeheartedly, and ask for common consideration in regards to my son, as well as all children who may grow up in what could potentially be a very unhealthy and unvalued piece of America. |
| 2,813 | 6:45 am PST, Feb 28 | jason tripp | North Carolina | To look at for the future of Brunswick and New Hanover. |
| 2,812 | 12:09 pm PST, Feb 22 | Mark Schwimmer | North Carolina | It is high time that our citizens regain their country from greedy business interests. |
| 2,811 | 5:54 pm PST, Feb 19 | Anonymous | California | I lived in that area for college and now live in Los Angeles, California where all the rivers and the ocean is polluted. I would hate to see the coast of North Carolina go the way of California. Good luck to all of you! |

| 2,807 | 5:44 pm PST, Jan 27 | Aiz T | ||
| 2,806 | 6:51 am PST, Jan 26 | Nathan Evans | North Carolina | As wet as the area is already, the loss of the trees will carry the pollutants right through our backyards and into the streams we fish and play in. There is enough industry waste already in our beatiful community. Keep Brunswick Beautiful. |
| 2,805 | 9:06 am PST, Jan 25 | Lori Dissinger | North Carolina | You must not let our beautiful land be wasted or destroyed! |
| 2,804 | 5:11 pm PST, Jan 24 | Richard Cox | North Carolina | Because Rep. Wright can rezone Dr. Mottola's offices on wrightsville ave, but he can help the thousands of citizens in Brunswick County. |
| 2,803 | 9:50 am PST, Jan 24 | Christine Cox | North Carolina | I don't want the landfill in my backyard. Isn't it bad enough people see the sewer treatment pland and the prison when they fly into Wilmington, a landfill won't help the environment nor the atmosphere of Wilmington/Leland. |

No Hugo Neu Landfill
Auto fluff is the non-ferrous residual left from the shredding of vehicles and appliances. Fluff is one of the leading sources of mercury and contains many other hazardous materials such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, benzene, PAHs, ethylbenzene, PCBs, toluene, vinyl chloride, trichloroethylene, and xylenes. Three of these permeate state-of-the art HDPE landfill liners in 1 to 13 days.
Hugo Neu, an international metal shredding giant headquartered in New York, plans to transport fluff from its shredding operations to the Cape Fear Lowlands adjacent to the Cape Fear River in Brunswick County, North Carolina, and stockpile it in a landfill 350 feet high over a 170-acre footprint.
Brunswick County is home to beautiful white sand beaches, two aquifer outcroppings, and the Green Swamp, whose species diversity is topped only by the Great Rain Forest of Central America. Here in the Green Swamp Preserve, you will find longleaf pine savannas, wild orchids, and 14 varieties of insectivorous plants.
The preserve is home to many rare animals, including American alligator, fox squirrel, Henslow’s sparrow, Bachman’s sparrow, and Hessel's hairstreak butterfly. One of the rarest residents is the federally listed endangered red-cockaded woodpecker.
Brunswick County, North Carolina, is an area rich in natural resources and favored by many retirees as being the perfect blend of North and South. Help us protect our home by signing the petition to stop Hugo Neu.
