I have heard hearts are the most precious gifts. Every second you are alive; your heart is there for you. And I can confirm this is true because I am a heart. In fact, I'm Bob's heart. Every day I beat 115,200 times, and my number one job is to keep beating, keeping Bob alive.
Bob and I have been through so much together. We’ve fallen in love, travelled the world, raised children and even walked his baby girl down the aisle. We've also pushed through heartbreak and illness. I am constantly doing my absolute best to never miss a beat, that is of course until recently. Bob was going for a run when suddenly, I caused him a lot of pain. We were rushed to the emergency room where people poked and prodded me until Bob felt a little better. I later heard the doctors and nurses saying it was a close call and that if I didn't start getting my blood pumping, Bob wouldn't make it.
I am so thankful they could fix me and that Bob is now doing OK, although, I still worry for my friends. I hope the wonderful nurses and doctors who treated us can continue to treat other hearts so that they too can keep beating too.
