• Why should people care about this issue? • Why did you start this petition? • How can we make a differWe seem to have reached a crisis point in this country with our cat population.I see an ever growing number of cat rescues bursting at the seams and unable to care for and rehome unwanted, stray and feral cats.
This situation is echoed in kennels a dog rescues. Thousands of dogs are euthanased every year as there are simply not enough loving homes to care for them in the way they deserve to be cared for.
Animals lives should not be a saleable commodity and their lives should not be so easily discarded.
This is what I ask of UK government;
* Please implement mandatory sterilisation of dogs and cats with only registered breeders to be excluded.
* Urge MPs to help stop unregulated trade in puppies/dogs & kittens/cats by creating an animal register (we're already half way there with the microchip system). Also an animal licencing system similar to a car registration, where official change of ownership documentation is a legal requirement.
* Ban puppy farming.
* Ban the sale of pets on selling websites.
We are supposedly a nation of animal lovers yet every day I see animals suffering, neglected, unwanted and unloved. Please can we make these changes for the welfare of innocent animals?ence?
